Before the advent of motorised horse transport in the 1950s and 60s, it was commonplace for Hunt Horses, Staff and Hounds to have hacked considerable distances to Meets before a long day’s hunting, then home again afterwards. Before Pulsford, the South Devon Hunt was kennelled at Barton Pines in Paignton, and our Country at one time included large parts of what now belongs to the Mid Devon and Silverton Hunts, necessitating some very early mornings, late nights, and long hacks to and from the furthest reaches.
Hounds are now enjoying a very well-earned rest, but Joe and Dan will be hacking from Kennels to the Warren House Inn on Friday 17th April, and would be very grateful for sponsorship in support of the Hunt.
They’ll be covering a distance of 15mi and climbing over 3000ft. Sponsors can guess how long it will take them to get there at a “hound jog” and the closest guess will win a cash prize.
You can click below to sponsor. Please select how many units of £5 you wish to donate, then add your guess as an Order Note.
Alternatively, you can pay by BACS and email your guess.
